New Life Update

For the past 8 months we have been praying for the right location for our new church downtown. There is no doubt in my mind that God has answered according to His will. With this in mind we are planning to have a meeting at the Scarritt Building this Saturday from 4:00 – 5:30pm.

We want to allow everyone the opportunity to see what God has provided and then spend an hour or so in prayer. This hour will be divided up into three sections of prayer:
  • Praise for all God has done
  • Intercession for people (saved and lost)
  • Requests for additional needs that we have
The directions to the building are as follows:

Take I-70 (River Market side of loop) Westbound to Grand Avenue Exit. Go south three blocks south to the Scarritt building at 9th and Grand.

There is free parking on the streets and in most parking lots and ramps on Saturday.

If you are planning to come, please let me know.

God Bless!

New Life Update

Psalm 115:3 says, “Our God is in the heavens; He does all that he pleases.” Revelation 4:11 says, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” God is good in the good times and God is good in the bad times. Today, we have a good time to celebrate His goodness. I am definitely on cloud nine and I could use some company so I thought I would send out the good news ☺.

The address for New Life Ministries is 818 Grand, 9S – Suite 25, Kansas City, MO 64106. This is the Scarritt building and we have been given an extremely generous offer from the ownership that more than meets our wildest expectations.

There are still some details to work out, but we would like to have our next core group meeting at the building on Saturday, February 3, 2007. We will likely have the meeting late afternoon and spend most of the time touring our part of the building and then taking an hour or so to pray in and over the building for God to use it to help us as the church win many souls to Christ.

There are many other things happening as well. We should have all of our outreach material printed within the next two weeks so we can begin a concerted effort to get the word out to thousands of people about the start of this church on April 8, 2007. We have started our Wednesday night Bible studies at the home of Tony and Sarah Totta. We are planning our TGIW Men’s Bible study at JP’s Coffee House (between 15th and 16th on Walnut) starting on January 30, from 6:30-7:30am. I continue to hear from more people that live downtown that are excited about this church and interested in being a part of us.

Please keep praying…We know that we are in a battle and we must constantly look to God for the strength and wisdom necessary to proclaim the Gospel. We need specific prayer for the following:
  • People to join our efforts (Luke 10:2)
  • Unity for all who are a part of New Life Ministries (John 17:20-21)
  • Purity of life and freedom from temptation (Matthew 26:41)
  • Courage to boldly proclaim the Gospel (Ephesians 6:19)
  • The right person to lead our singing and worship
Today is a day to relish the goodness of God—Enjoy His presence!

New Life Update

Thirteen weeks from yesterday is the scheduled launch date for New Life Ministries.

How is that for a dose of reality?

Better yet, how is this for a dose of reality?

Psalm 115:3 “Our God is in the heavens; He does all that he pleases.”

Over the past few days, I will admit that I have entertained some anxious thoughts; honestly I have been somewhat overwhelmed. We are less than 13 weeks away from our launch date and we do not have a building. So we do not have an address or phone number. We do not have chairs, or a pulpit, or a sound system or a music pastor, or a million other things we will need.

Before you get second thoughts about having me as your pastor, let’s change perspectives. We DO have a promise from God that he has called us to start this church at this time. We DO have the presence of the Holy Spirit within us guiding our direction and we DO have the admonition from the Bible that we must:

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, (7) casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. (8) Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (9) Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. (10) And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. (11) To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 5:7-11)

In addition, we do have many other things coming together.
  • We are sending out an updated offer on the Scarritt Building today with the help of our Real Estate Professionals.
  • We have nearly every ministry team started, but we still need many more people to get involved.
  • Nuance Marketing Group is planning on having a brochure for the meeting on Saturday and in addition, has completed a flyer.
  • We are scheduled to start our Men’s Bible study downtown on January 30, from 6:30am – 7:30am at JP’s Coffee shop.
  • We are planning our first Wednesday night Bible study at the Totta’s house on January 17 at 7:00pm.
  • We have our next Launch Team Meeting this Saturday, January 13, from 6:30 – 8:30pm. I will send out more details on the location in a few days.
As I close, I want to thank you for praying together for the ministry downtown. Nearly every day it seems that I hear of more people that live downtown that need to hear about “How Life is meant to be!”

God Bless!
