New Life Update

The pace continues to pick up. I have shared a few times that things are going fast enough now that there is very little fear…there is just not enough time. It’s like the line drive that comes at you in a softball game and you find it in your glove before you have time to think. Everyone watches it happen and it looks so smooth, but deep inside you know you were merely trying to protect yourself from a broken nose. Since we have only four weeks until our launch we are still reacting…hopefully we don’t break our nose. ☺

God has really been doing incredible things that we do not deserve. Watching Him work forces me to my knees in thanksgiving for His matchless grace. I will try to give you a brief synopsis of some different happenings:
  • God continues to bless with faithful, energetic and talented people that simply want to see God work through them in ministry to others.
  • Our TGIW men’s Bible study from 6:30-7:30am is set to officially launch this Tuesday, March 6th at the Scarritt Building.
  • We have been given temporary office, nursery and kid’s space on the 4th floor of our building until we are able to build out the 9th Street level.
  • We have been adopted by Harvest productions as their annual church plant to help with sound, video, lighting and curtains.
  • We have had a large billboard on I-70 and various other signs and banners given by some generous friends of the ministry.
  • We have been given wise direction for the future of our music ministry as well as talented individuals that are seriously considering being a part of New Life.
  • God has blessed us in the area of technology with a donated computer, software and a clear vision for the future.
  • We had a great weekend with Dave Bray who advised us in the areas of outreach and visitor follow-up.
  • Our NEEDS list is on the main web page and various people have already begun helping with specific projects—if you have a minute you can see it at www.newlifekc.org.
To continue with the softball metaphor, we are rounding 3rd base and are on the homestretch in regard to the launch date of April 8, 2007, HOWEVER, we are only in the first inning and we have a long game ahead….we’re even hoping for extra innings. In all reality the real work begins after New Life is born.

In Colossian 3:14-17 Paul inspires us with the following:

"And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (emphasis added)

This is a timely challenge to me to:
  • Be loving
  • Be trusting
  • Be thankful
  • Be studying
  • Be glorifying
We have stewardship over the opportunity to be a part of this new church downtown. We must be spiritually strong to resist attacks from our foe. If you ever have any questions, or feel led to be involved, feel free to give me a call (816) 421-PRAY.

Blessings!
