God Centered

  • A God-centered church depends on the Holy Spirit (John 14:25-26).

Word Based
  • A Word-based church makes the Bible central to every ministry activity (2 Timothy 3:16).

  • A Word-based church believes the Bible to be inerrant (Psalm 119:160).

  • A Word-based church practices expositional preaching and teaching exclusively from the Bible
    (Isaiah 28:10).

  • A Word-based church believes in the sufficiency of Scripture (2 Corinthians 3:5-6).

  • A Word-based church believes that one’s theology is the roadmap for life (Matthew 22:29).

Gospel Proclaiming
  • A Gospel-proclaiming church will broadcast the Gospel message (Luke 14:15-24).

  • A Gospel-proclaiming church will communicate absolute truth in a relativistic society (John 17:17).
    • A significant amount of the church budget will be used to further evangelistic efforts.

    • Personal contact and technology will be used to share the Gospel with everyone in a specified area on an annual basis.

Life Building
  • A life-building church will prioritize discipleship (2 Timothy 2:2).

  • A llife-building church will encourage God-based relationships (Romans 12:5).

Prayer Empowered
  • A prayer-empowered church prioritizes consistent prayer (Acts 1:13-14).

  • A prayer-empowered church makes prayer a vital part of church services and daily life
    (Acts 3:1; 1 Timothy 2:1).

Culturally Engaged
  • A culturally-engaged church looks for ways to communicate the Gospel that are relevant to today’s culture (John 3:1-21; 4:6-27).

  • A culturally-engaged church believes the best way to change culture is to change individuals within the culture (John 4:28-39).

Socially Active
  • A socially-active church endeavors to selflessly represent Jesus Christ to the community (Matthew 25:34-45). 

  • A socially-active church understands their first responsibility is to help the hurting inside the church and then to help those outside the church (Galatians 6:10).

  • A socially-active church invests financially to aid those in need (Proverbs 19:17).

  • A socially-active church helps those who have no capacity to repay the kindness, including the fatherless, the widows, and the poor (James 1:26-28). 

Missions Focused
  • A missions-focused church believes in multiplying its efforts by focusing on planting churches locally (Acts 1:8a).

  • A missions-focused church believes in multiplying its efforts by planting churches on foreign mission fields (Acts 1:8b).

Leader Guided
  • A leader-guided church will have leadership that meets biblical qualifications (I Timothy 3).

  • A leader-guided  church will place a high value on the theological training of its leadership
    (II Timothy 2:15).

  • A leader-guided church will emphasize servant leadership (John 13:1-17).

  • A leader-guided church will employ a team to accomplish the mission of the church (Acts 13).

  • A leader-guided church will have a Biblical form of church polity (I Timothy 3).

Doctrinally Baptistic

Historically, Baptists have accepted the following pillars:

  • Biblical Authority (2 Peter 1:21)

  • Autonomy of the local church (Matt. 18:17) 

  • Priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:9)

  • Two Ordinances: Baptism (Acts 2:41) and Communion (1 Cor. 11:23-25)

  • Individual Soul Liberty (Romans 14:5, 12)

  • Saved, Baptized Church Membership (Acts 2:47)

  • Two offices:  Pastor (Acts 20:28) and Deacons (1Tim. 3:13)

  • Separation of Church and State (Matt. 22:21)
