Five Eternal Truths Explained
I think we all come to a point in our lives when we wonder why we exist.  What in the world is our purpose for being alive in the 21st century?  It may come as a surprise that our purpose for existence “is not about you.”  It’s not a secret either…in fact, God has clearly revealed our purpose through His communiqué to the human race, the Bible.

1.
God created us
for His glory.
“Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory.” (Isaiah 43:6-7)

God made us to magnify His greatness the way telescopes magnify stars.  He created us as a display case of His amazing attributes.  When we understand that life is all about God, then we can begin to accept the responsibility that we each have to exalt Him.  Since God made us for His glory, He expects us to live for His glory.

2.
We have failed God.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

What does it mean to “fall short of the glory of God?”  For starters it means that none of us has trusted and treasured God the way we should.  We have missed the mark of God’s perfect expectations for our lives.  We have sought our fulfillment in people or things instead of God and by treating them more valuable than God we have committed sin. This failure is common to every person alive, there is no one that is perfectly good.

3.
We must accept
God on His terms.
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6)

Since we have failed God in our nature and our actions we are helpless and at His mercy.  God is our judge and He loved us enough to send His Son to pay for our sins.  The good news is that Jesus came into the world through the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life and then died on the cross as a payment for our sin.  After three days, He arose from the dead and is alive forevermore. God simply will accept no other means or method of getting to heaven besides His sacrificial gift of Jesus Christ.

4.
God’s terms are faith
and repentance.
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
(Romans 10:9-10)

Repent means to turn from all the deceitful promises of sin.  Faith means that we are satisfied with all that God promised to be for us in Jesus Christ.  In John 3, Jesus calls this action the “New Birth.”  When we accept God’s terms of faith in Christ and repentance for our sins we accomplish His will for our life.  He is glorified in us and we are satisfied in Him — forever.

5.
God’s promise is eternal.
“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)

There are many promises that we are given through the course of our lives.  We can be absolutely confident that the when God promises that we will have eternal life it is based on His perfect and unchanging character.  There is no doubt or fear that God will be unable to accomplish the expectations He has set for himself.  Presently, He is preparing our Heavenly home that we can enjoy with Him for eternity.  God promises us the best life now and in eternity…the way Life is meant to be.
